The 3rd Alabama wishes that all members, reenactors, and spectators enjoy each and every event. We regard safety as the highest priority over all other concerns. To this extent, the 3rd Alabama follows some basic safety rules as set forth by the Civil War Reenactor's Laiison Committee (CWRLC) as well as other self-impose guidelines. These rules are as follows:
No non-period weapons.
Sidearms carried by Officers only.
Ramrods are not to be drawn on the field with the exception of Safety personnel clearing a weapon behind the firing line.
Fouled muskets are to be taken a minumum of 20 paces behind the line of fire under the supervision of the ordanance personnel to be cleared.
Bayonets are not to be fixed on the field. Scabbards must have appropriate metal tips.
Powder charges limited to 70 grains for .54-.58 caliber and 80-90 grains for .69 caliber.
No weapons are to be discharged within 25 yards of the enemy (always elevate when firing).
No weapons are to be discharged within camp boundaries with the exception of weapons inspection under supervision of the ordanance personnel.
No live ammunition allowed on the reenactment site. LEAVE IT AT HOME!
No fireworks or pyrotechnics at any time.
No tampions may be taken to the field.
No wadding will be used in any weapon.
No spectator will be allowed to handle a weapon without the supervision of a qualified reenactor in a safe area.
Age: 16 for combatants; 13 for functional musicians. No one under 13 will be allowed onthe field.
All event participants will carry a FULL canteen at all times.
No pets will be allowed at an event under any circumstances.
No reenactor shall take the field under the influence of alcohol.
The use of illegal drugs is strictly forbidden.
