Equipment List for the Rifleman

The 3rd Alabama prides itself on our authenticity. The below listed equipment has been compiled to be used as a reference only. It is highly recommended that before any new recruit buys equipment, they should consult an "old timer" first. Old timers can give valuable suggestions on what styles and where to purchases these items.

Many of our members maintain extra uniform parts or accoutrements which may be borrowed for an event. We're always happy to help new members, but it is advisable to get your own gear. Your first priority, after a uniform, should be your musket. This will probably be the most expensive single purchase that you make (but well worth it!).

All non-period items should be concealed from public view at all times. If you wear glasses, period style rims can be purchased from an antique store for as little as $10. Just have your prescription lenses put in. Wirst watches should not be used. Instead, get a period style pocket watch. Men should not wear earings. Cell phones should be no where in site. If they are absolutely needed (keep in touch with the baby sitter), please put them on vibrate. Nothing ruins the setting like a cell phone ringing.
